Yes. Many people underestimate the impact that leaving your job improperly can have. When I have considered a candidate for employment in one of my businesses I ask when they can start. If they are currently employed and they tell me they can start right away, a red flag goes up. That tells me they do not plan on giving notice and in some cases, not even telling their employer they are leaving. A professional resignation letter and notice will allow you to keep that door open and provide a better rapport for future reference inquiries.
